When riding fun becomes an addiction. All-consuming passion.
You can barely find words to express the riding fun and the feeling that the KTM 990 Super Duke gives you when it’s in motion. Just as KTM re-invented the Streetfighter, you try to invent new words for what happens beneath you curve after curve. The KTM 990 Super Duke sweeps through curves – ultra-precise, radical and agile. The landscape flies past fast, faster, much too fast. You feel the road, the centrifugal force and want more.
CHASSIS
OVERVIEW
Based on an extremely effective and very rigid chromium molybdenum tubular space frame, the 990 Super Duke’s geometry is highly favoured for its exemplary combination of light footed handling and the highest degree of stability, even on the racetrack.
FORKS
The superior upside down forks from WP Suspension, with 48 mm diameter and 135 mm suspension travel, are fully adjustable and can be optimally set up for their intended purpose.
WP SHOCK ABSORBER
Directly connected to the swingarm, with adjustable rebound damping and high and low speed compression damping. 160 mm suspension travel at the rear wheel.
SWINGARM
575 mm long, the conically shaped swingarm of extruded aluminium has a characteristically lightweight yet rigid construction, as well as a new look since 2008, an all black coating!
FRONT MASK
Featuring an integrated wind spoiler for better aerodynamics adn a better view of the multifunctional instrument with its analogue tachometer, digital speedometer and many additional functions.
BRAKES
Brembo braking system with a radial master cylinder, two radially mounted 4 piston brake callipers with 4 brake linings each and a 320 mm brake disc. The rear wheel is slowed with the aid of a 240 mm brake disc and a floating, single piston brake calliper.
ENGINE
OVERVIEW
The latest model of the 990 Super Duke relies on the renowned performance of the ultra modern V2 engine, but it runs very smoothly in all RPM ranges, thanks to the perfectly tuned Keihin injection system. High revving but with a broadly usable speed and performance range, this only 58 kg LC8 engine is perfect for sporty asphalt predations that are always easily controlled.
